"Fired Up to Learn"
Greetings Parents, Guardians, and Families of Ranson Elementary,
My name is Lance Astorino and I am incredibly excited to join the
extraordinary staff of Ranson Elementary as your new Principal. I look
forward to continuing the strong partnership already in place that
provides our students with a rigorous, structured, and engaging
educational experience. In addition to being very passionate about
education for all students no matter their ability or achievement level,
I also have high expectations for myself, students, and staff to assure
the best education for your student.
I strongly believe that parents are the first teacher in every students’
life. It is because of that belief that we will continue to foster a
strong home-school community partnership. In addition to a strong
community partnership, together we will work to not only guarantee that
all our students are challenged academically, but also have access to
social and emotional supports, as necessary so that both student and
families feel supported, appreciated, and cared for.
Before joining Ranson Elementary, I was an Assistant Principal at
Driswood Elementary School for 3 years. Before coming to Jefferson
County, I was a Lead Teacher/Content Specialist in Washington County at a
Title I school for 3 years. Additionally, I have 8 years teaching
experience in both Berkeley County and Frederick County, Virginia. My
academic background includes an Administrative/Supervision Certificate
from WVU, Master of Education from WVU, and a bachelor's degree in
Elementary Education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Other than
leading great educators, I enjoy spending time with my family. My
wife, a teacher in Berkeley County, and our 2 daughters (ages 10 and 8)
keep me busy. We are either on the soccer field, in the gym for a
volleyball game, or on the pool deck cheering on our girls on the
weekends.
During these uncertain times, one thing will remain constant and that is
the high-quality education that your student will receive daily, no
matter virtually or in person. Additionally, together we will work to
achieve that every student finds their way to feel connected, challenged
by new learning, and are surrounded by champions to push them to
achieve their goals.
Thank you for this opportunity to serve as only your fourth principal in
the history of Ranson. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you
have any questions or concerns, as well as celebrations or ideas you
would like to share.
Sincerely,
Mr. Lance Astorino
Principal, Ranson Elementary
